With drones, he wants to take NITO membership to new heights
- Do you dare to take a helicopter taxi? Jaskaran Singh Sandhu wants to make everyday life better for most people and wants more people to find their way to NITO.
See what member benefits he uses.

Drone enthusiast and engineering student Jaskaran Singh Sandhu believes that the large network and subject offerings at NITO help provide access to the technology of the future.
"It's cool to discuss new technology and create new innovative solutions together with other NITO members," he says.
To engineers and technologists who are not yet members, the young student says: "Through NITO, you get both a social and a professional boost.
Sandhu is a Drammen boy and is currently studying electronics and drone technology at the University of Tromsø.
The future is up in the air
Drones can revolutionize the way we move goods and people. We are exploring the opportunities that drones provide – not for weapons, but for transport and other things that are socially beneficial," he emphasizes.
Imagine if we could get a helicopter taxi like in China. Making drones that carry an adult for 20-30 minutes is already possible. You must not crash into buildings then," he says and laughs.
Why Sandhu is a NITO member:
- Crash courses, Python and a number of other courses – you build competence
- Social events such as bowling, go-carting and pizza nights
- Networking, both from courses and social events. This is a huge advantage to have throughout your study and working life.
- Great insurance at a very favorable price. Sandhu has both accident insurance and travel insurance through NITO. As a student member, you have an insurance included in the membership. He is also pleased that NITO members receive a 30 percent discount on insurance policies with Tryg.
- Health and medical care, free access to Tryg Medical Assistance around the clock provides security

Technology and travel
Sandhu travels as much as he can, preferably far. He has been to more than 40 countries.
- Technology from all over the world inspires me. It is exciting to see how old and new technology work together. Some of the coolest things I've experienced or seen are autonomous driverless trains in Bangkok, hologram phones from Korea with screens and touch in thin air, and sushi restaurants serving sushi with robotic technology in Japan.
He also eagerly talks about an experience at the Expo in Osaka with rocks from the moon, excavated by Chinese astronauts.
Sandhu is convinced that the engineers of the future need both knowledge and networks to succeed.
- You get that through NITO!
