Reorganization - law and strategy

The challenge

Restructuring in the workplace can be challenging, and as a union representative, you are in an important position. It can feel overwhelming to have to navigate processes such as reorganization, downsizing, business transfers or layoffs. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence you need to handle these situations.

How the course helps you

You will be introduced to relevant laws and contractual provisions, so that you know what rights and obligations apply. The course focuses on your role as a union representative, where you learn to identify your opportunities and conduct good conversations with management. You will get practical tips to contribute to fair processes, and the opportunity to meet and learn from other union representatives.

When you have completed the course, you will

  • have greater confidence in the interaction with the employer and your members when the employer has to restructure the organisation
  • have knowledge of laws and agreements that regulate downsizing processes, reorganization, business transfers and layoffs
  • have created networks and shared experiences with other union representatives that you can spar with further
