Power BI for beginners

In this course, you will get a practical introduction to how to use Power BI to collect, structure and present data in a clear way.

You'll learn how to work with datasets from different sources, and how to use visualizations to make information easier to understand. Along the way, you will gain experience in building reports and dashboards that make it easier to see connections in data.

The course is structured so that you gradually develop an understanding of both the tool and the work process, and how Power BI can be used in practice in everyday work.

What you will learn in the course

  • Import and customize data from various data sources
  • structure and model data for analysis
  • Create visualizations such as charts and reports
  • Build interactive dashboards
  • Use calculations and functions for analysis
  • present data in a clear and understandable way

About the course

Read about how the course is structured and what you can do after completing the Power BI course.
How the course is structured

The course is divided into several parts and provides a step-by-step introduction to how to use Power BI for analysis and visualization of data. You start by getting familiar with the interface and how to connect to different data sources, before learning how to structure and adapt data for further work.

Furthermore, you work on creating visualizations and reports that provide an overview of the information, and how these can be put together into interactive dashboards. Along the way, you will work on specific tasks that show how data can be analysed and presented in practice.

Towards the end of the course, you will gain experience in how to combine different elements to create holistic solutions, and the course ends with a summary of how the tool can be used further in your own projects.

Learning outcome

Through the course, you will develop a basic understanding of how Power BI is used to analyze and visualize data. You will learn how to collect and structure information from different sources, and how to present this through reports and dashboards that provide a better overview.

You will gain experience in using visualisations to make data more accessible, and how you can work with analyses to uncover patterns and correlations. This gives you a good starting point for using Power BI to convey insights and support decisions in everyday work.
