Stormwater and flooding affect a large number of actors, and no one can solve the climate challenges alone. Therefore, we need more people who take a clear leadership role and develop solutions together.
Norwegian municipalities report increasing challenges related to stormwater, and recent surveys show a clear need to strengthen expertise in the field. At the same time, Finance Norway and the Norwegian Natural Damage Pool document a marked increase in costs as a result of climate-related damage. Figures from Finance Norway show that damage related to major rain events and extreme precipitation amounts to several billion kroner each year. It is often private households, companies and municipalities that have to bear the economic and social consequences of inadequate stormwater management.
Against this background, we invite project managers, subject managers and managers who work with the planning and implementation of urban development, construction and infrastructure projects to a three-day course. The course provides municipalities, private builders and contractors with the knowledge and drive needed to manage stormwater in a sustainable way – from concrete technical solutions for better stormwater management to strategic land-use planning that takes into account future climate conditions.
The ambition is to contribute to a real change in how stormwater is managed today. With increased expertise, Norwegian municipalities and private enterprises can move from short-term crisis management to long-term and sustainable climate adaptation.
