Help in matters of working life for you as a student
As a student member of NITO, you can receive guidance and assistance in matters relating to your employment. Here you get an overview of what you can and cannot get help with.
When you get in touch, we first consider your case and how we can best assist. Often, the assistance will be advice and guidance.
What can you get help with?
- Questions about pay and working conditions in summer jobs and part-time jobs
- Non-payment of salary or overtime pay
- Questions related to working hours and holidays
- Review of employment contract
- Discrimination, whistleblowing and other working environment matters
- Illegal temporary employment
- Termination and questions about rights in such situations
Who should you contact first?
- Have a chat with your employer. Many issues can be resolved early through dialogue.
- Talk to the union representative if there is one in the workplace. The union representative knows the local conditions and can provide useful support.
- If the case is not resolved, you can contact NITO for further guidance.
We can't help you with:
NITO assists in matters relating to your employment, so we cannot assist with:
- Appeal against grades
- Conflicts on campus (e.g. with lecturers or fellow students)
- Questions about tax and exemption cards or student loans and grants
- Problems with housing or living situation

NITO can help you in matters related to your employment. We usually start with advice and guidance, and assess further assistance on an ongoing basis based on the case.
