Become a certified project manager
Do you want to build a CV and career with a unique project management competence? Now you have the opportunity to participate in a course in project management at NITO with accreditation and certification from DNV and PMI.
NITO's career expert, Frida Basma, proudly says that NITO now offers its members a first-class course program in project management in collaboration with Project Academy AS.
" This is a course program that will provide many of our members with great benefit because project management skills are so sought after in today's working life, and because this course stands out in the market in terms of both professional and digital quality," says Basma.
" In addition, many NITO members want to become certified project managers, and then this course program is a perfect choice as the course is based on several international standards, and gives course participants a certification from DNV and PMI at the end of the course," she concludes.
High international standard
The course program is a practical translation of international standards in project management such as PMBOK and PRINCE2. The course provides you with knowledge and tools from the pre-project, the tender and contract phase, start-up, planning, implementation and evaluation of projects.
Otto Husby is the general manager of Project Academy AS and the academic manager of the Project School. He has worked with project management, learning and e-learning for 25 years, and has helped many large organizations introduce good practices in project management.
"The purpose of the Project School is to provide a full-fledged and compact training in project management for everyone who works in or with projects. The programme has been developed in accordance with international standards, and is also certified by DNV in accordance with standard ST-0008 – Learning programmes. This is a guarantee that the programme contains all important topics in the field of project management, that the courses are structured with clear learning objectives, that the content is in accordance with agreed good practice, and that the instructors have sufficient competence.
"The vast majority of companies carry out many projects every year. Everything that has to do with development, change and innovation usually happens through a project. Since project management is often not part of the curriculum at universities and colleges, much of the project management that takes place is self-taught. Many people trust their own common sense, but it often turns out that it is not enough to succeed with more complex projects," says Husby.
He believes that there is a need for more expertise in project management. Competence development in this area will result in more successful projects and better results for the companies.
Business-critical expertise
Furthermore, Husby says that many Norwegian and international companies use the Project School for training.

"There are a majority of companies in engineering services, energy, health, aquaculture, industry and IT, that use the Project School as competence development for better projects," says Husby.
An example of an international company is Jotun.
"Jotun, for example, has employees in over a hundred countries. They are leaders in their industry, and carry out hundreds of projects every year. Project management is a business-critical competence for Jotun," says Husby.
"The project school is a flexible training program that combines e-learning modules with webinars or gatherings. This means that the program can run across borders and regardless of time zones.
For example, Norwegian People's Aid has benefited greatly from the course.
"Norwegian People's Aid, which runs important development programs in many troubled parts of the world, uses the Project School to introduce its own project model, and as a tool for training project managers across the organization.
Delivered as an in-house course
"The project school can easily be adapted to any company, and their project model. The project school can be put together with the modules that the company wants, and run with webinars or gatherings. You can also develop your own e-learning module if you wish. The project school is available in both Norwegian and English.
"The unique thing about the Project School is that the e-learning courses are mainly based on visual effects such as films and animations, with interactive tasks. Experience shows that the completion rate is almost 100% - which is completely unique in an e-learning context. This is probably due to the fact that it is both entertaining and engaging, Husby concludes.
The project school provides you with expertise that increases the likelihood that you will succeed with your projects. You will learn about project management in modern organizations. You will learn about the organisation, roles and responsibilities, planning, implementation and completion of a project. You will learn about managing uncertainty, and what are the success criteria for successful projects.
