This is what you can earn in your summer job 2025

Are you a student and unsure of what the salary level for the summer job is? NITO gives you an idea of what to expect.

Many students have secured summer jobs this year. But how much can you really expect to earn in what may be the very first work experience you get?

- If you are unsure of how much is normal to earn in the summer job, it is good to know that NITO has made calculations. They are based on figures from NITO's student survey from last year, which have been multiplied by this year's assumed wage growth," says Sofie Strøm Olsen, head of NITO Students.

The overview is divided into two categories: Relevant summer jobs that correspond to the field of study you have chosen, and summer jobs that are not relevant to what you are studying.

NITO's overview shows that NOK 261 per hour is the average hourly wage in a relevant summer job.

Hourly wage: Relevant summer job

Average NOK 261

Hourly wage: Not relevant summer job

Average NOK 225

The figures that have been reproduced are from May 2025. Strøm Olsen emphasizes that it is important to clarify that salary will depend on several factors - such as relevance, and how far in your studies you have come.
