Plenty of room for real wage growth
NITO expects its members to receive real wage growth this year as well. There is uncertainty related to prices and interest rates, but most NITO members should have good real wage growth in 2025 as well," says NITO's President, Kjetil Lein.
In NITO's recent needs survey for 2025, 61 percent of managers answer that it is difficult to find qualified engineers.
If Norwegian employers want to attract both experienced engineers and technologists, as well as be an attractive alternative for young people, salary must be one of the tools," says Kjetil Lein.

In a member survey from March this year, NITO's members responded that they expect a salary increase of 6.2 per cent for 2025.
The Technical Calculation Selection (TBU) estimates that prices will rise by 2.7 per cent this year, but there is considerable uncertainty associated with the forecast.
Uncertainty is particularly related to developments in the krone exchange rate, energy prices and the global economy, with a risk of major changes in trade policy.
"NITO still expects its members to have good real wage growth this year as well," says the president.
Together with good wage settlements for the members, this will provide improved personal finances for the vast majority of us.
"NITO's salary statistics show that members had good real wage growth in 2024, and it should still pay to be a NITO member in 2025," concludes Kjetil Lein.
