Wage statistics state 2024: - The figures are affected by the strike
The figures for NITO Stat stand out this year. They do not show results from local negotiations, only the wage increase that comes from, for example, job changes and negotiations on special grounds.
Salary statistics for central government employees in 2024
- The average salary as of 1 October 2024 is NOK 62,784
- The average starting salary is NOK 51,485
- The general wage increase from 1 October 2023 to 1 October 2024 is 1.1 per cent
- The wage increase for identical persons is 2.1 per cent
This year's wage statistics figures for NITO State are affected by the strike and the subsequent National Wage Tribunal proceedings. As a result, the deadline for conducting local negotiations in 2024 was postponed to 15 February 2025.
In the wage statistics presented here, results from local negotiations in 2024 are thus not included. These results will not be published until next year's statistics. This means that both this year's wage statistics and next year's wage statistics will be affected.
The figures only show wage drift
"What the wage increase in the statistics shows is what we call wage drift. In other words, the wage increase that is due to factors other than the annual local negotiations. This can include salary changes as a result of negotiations on a special basis and job changes," explains Roger Matberg, subject manager for NITO Stat.
The central parties include a slippage estimate when the total limit for the wage settlement is determined. In 2024, this estimate was 0.8 per cent of a total limit of 5.2 per cent.
"The feedback we have received from our local union representatives, who have now finally completed the local negotiations, indicates that good results have been achieved for our members.
"It will be exciting to see these effects in next year's statistics," Matberg concludes.
