Salary statistics Spektrum 2024 - expect more

The figures ensure real wage growth, but critical and sought-after skills should have paid off better on the paycheck, says subject manager Ida Engen.

A 4.8 per cent general wage increase ensures real wage growth. This is important after several years of decline in real wages.

"But we had expected the figures to point even closer to what the frontline trade ended up at," says Ida Engen, subject manager for the Spekter area.

  • The average salary as of 1 October 2024 is NOK 56,546
  • The average starting salary is NOK 43,885
  • The general wage increase from 1 October 2023 to 1 October 2024 is 4.8 per cent
  • The salary increase for identical persons is 6.0 per cent

Result of distribution negotiations

- It is nevertheless not very surprising all the time our union representatives report back that the negotiations in the Spekter area are distribution negotiations, where it is only about moving money.

This is demanding for the union representatives.

- We believe it is not in accordance with either the frontline trade model, which itself proposes to be a norm over time. Nor do our collective agreements in the area, which have clear criteria according to which negotiations must be made.

Expects real local negotiations

- On behalf of our members in health, we expect our union representatives to meet employers in real local negotiations this spring, where the criteria in the collective agreements are actively used.

"Through this, we clearly believe that the masses NITO negotiates for locally must be given equal priority, as the expertise is highly sought after.

Salaries must be used as an active personnel policy instrument in the pursuit of competence. It is no longer useful to keep wages down in the health sector. Those times are over.

"We are in the middle of demanding times, in terms of having enough and the right expertise to solve the socially critical tasks that need to be solved," Engen concludes.
