Sofie from Halden elected leader of 15,000 students
Sofie Strøm Olsen (23) was elected leader during the national meeting of NITO Students.
Sofie Strøm Olsen from Halden was re-elected by acclamation for the NITO Students at this year's national meeting.
She has been active in NITO Students since 2020, first as a board member at OsloMet, then as a local branch leader in 2022, and deputy chair of the central board from 2022 to 2024. She has been leader since 2024 and has now been elected for a new term.
This is what she wants to do for NITO Students
As a leader, Sofie wants to strengthen NITO Students' position in society and give union representatives a first-class experience.
- In an uncertain world, trade unions provide stability. Our students will be given the tools they need to solve the challenges of the future, both in the lab and in the lecture hall," she says.
Her goals include promoting quality in education, strengthening science recruitment, and ensuring a clear voice in political issues. She also emphasizes transparency in the work of the central board and outstanding training and follow-up for union representatives.

Great motivation for the job
Sofie wants to build a strong national board and increase the organization's visibility. Among other things, NITO Students will work actively towards this autumn's parliamentary elections to promote the organization's policies.
Sofie draws inspiration from the community in NITO Students.
