What should NITO focus on in the coming year? What issues are important to you, your colleagues or your business group? As a member, you have the opportunity to influence what the department will work on and who will represent the members in the coming period.
The annual meeting is the department's most important democratic arena. Here, activities, priorities and budgets for the next year are adopted, while elections are held for key positions in the department. The annual meeting is also a meeting place where you can develop your network, discuss the organisation's development and help set the agenda for NITO's work locally and nationally.

Congressional Elections 2027
At the annual meeting, representatives are elected to several important positions in NITO Svalbard. The annual meeting in 2027 will have a particularly important task through the election of representatives to NITO's congress. The congress is NITO's highest body and determines the organisation's political direction, statutes and priorities for the coming period. The representatives elected from NITO Svalbard will therefore help influence important decisions for the entire organisation.
Tip the nomination committee
Throughout the year, the nomination committee works to identify and recruit candidates with different experiences, skills and backgrounds. If you want to contribute to NITO's development locally and nationally, or know candidates who can represent the members in a good way, you are encouraged to contact the nomination committee. Committed members are crucial for a vibrant organisational democracy.
We also recommend that candidates and members familiarise themselves with the Ethics Committee's recommendations on conduct in election processes in NITO.
Proxies – do you represent the group of companies?
Union representatives who are to vote on behalf of a company group must register the group's representation and distribution of votes via a digital form before the registration deadline for the annual meeting, 26 January 2027.
Do you have an issue you would like the annual meeting to address?
The annual meeting deals with matters that are important to the branch and its members. If you wish to influence NITO's work, you can submit proposals that you believe should be considered by the annual meeting.
There may be suggestions related to:
- The department's activities and initiatives
- Member offers and events
- political or professional priorities
- Organizational development and member engagement
- cases that affect members or business groups in NITO Svalbard
Proposals for matters that are to be considered at the annual meeting must be sent to no later than three weeks before the meeting, 12 January 2027.
It is also possible to contact the department board throughout the year if you have input, suggestions or issues you think the department should work on.
