- It's not that I hope the flight is delayed, but if it is, this offer makes the travel experience better, says Felix Erik Kellner. He is one of the people at NITO's insurance center you can talk to if you are going to buy insurance.

This benefits everyone with NITO Travel Insurance, and there are many of them. Kellner emphasizes that the offer applies to "the entire travel party", at least up to five people. In other words, not necessarily just family.

- Make it a routine to register everyone you travel with at the same time as you book the flight, Kellner urges. For the scheme to apply, you must be registered in advance on SmartDelay+'s website. 

- Once you have registered the trip in advance, everything will be automatic. There will be a message to you that now you can go to the lounge, you will get a Lounge Key, he explains.

- If the airport does not have a lounge, you will receive 40 Euro via PayPal, he emphasizes.

Safer travel with NITO Travel Insurance

NITO Travel Insurance is a year-round travel insurance that covers more than a regular travel insurance does. It includes Tryg's best terms and conditions and applies to all trips of up to 90 days – including short trips to the convenience store or when walking the dog.

- AirHelp will fix this and the money will be sent to your account. Of course, you can do the job yourself, but more easily via AirHelp. They charge a service fee of 35% of the total compensation," Kellner explains.
 
If you want to use AirHelp, select it at the same time as you register the trip and your fellow travelers in connection with SmartDelay+. In the event of a delay or cancellation, AirHelp will then automatically submit the claim for you.

Important about SmartDelay+ and AirHelp

SmartDelay+

  • Access the lounge at the airport if your flight is delayed. If there is no lounge at the airport, you can get 40 Euro
  • The flight must be delayed by at least one hour
  • You/everyone in your party must be registered with SmartDelay+ at least 24 hours before departure (up to five people)
  • The flight itself must be registered by the airline in FlightStats (all scheduled flights are generally registered here, including some charter flights, but exceptions occur)
  • You don't need to have an existing PayPal account. In the event of a payout, an email will be sent to you with a link to PayPal to register and create an account. Your PayPal account will need to be linked to the email address you used to register your flight

AirHelp

If the flight is delayed for more than three hours or is cancelled, you are entitled to compensation from the airline. AirHelp can contact the company and make sure that happens. The service is selected at the same time as you enter the name for SmartDelay+

- Please note that if you have purchased the travel insurance after you have purchased the trip, the insurance applies to the entire trip, but that the cancellation insurance does not apply to this trip, he says.

NITO Travel Insurance applies to trips of up to 90 days, and worldwide, with the exception of where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have travel warnings for.
