Capture the Flag – ethical hacking competition
Meet professional networks for cyber security and join a competition with a focus on ethical hacking.
CTF stands for "Capture the Flag". This is a fun team competition with tasks in cybersecurity, ethical hacking and problem-solving. In the competition, the participants are given a number of tasks, each of which hides a "flag" – a short string of text they find by solving the task. The flag is pasted into the competition system, the team gets points, and a leaderboard shows how things are going.
The tasks are run in a closed practice environment that is designed to be broken into. There is an important difference from reality: testing the security of systems you have not been given permission to test is illegal. A CTF gives you a place where participants can learn the techniques in a safe and legal way.
Ethical hacking is preparedness – and fun! The CTF competition provides practical training in cyber security. Tasks for all levels. Bring your computer and charger and join! NITO's professional network for cyber security is with us this evening.
Why CTF?
Norway is digitalising at high speed. Critical infrastructure – from power grids to healthcare – is becoming increasingly dependent on digital systems. This creates opportunities, but also vulnerabilities.
CTF competitions are one of the most effective ways to build practical security skills. Here, participants learn to think like an attacker – to better defend. This is resilience in action: Those who understand how systems can be breached are the best at protecting them.
The Professional Network for Cyber Security is responsible for the event.
