On the last Thursday in September, it has become a tradition with the large cultural gathering Elvelangs in torchlight. Attend this lecture as the perfect recharge for the river walk.
Tone Rasch is a conservator at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology and an expert on Norwegian industrial history, with a particular emphasis on the textile industry. She has contributed to and led the development of the museum's Akerselva exhibition, sawmill and wood processing exhibition, plastic exhibition and a number of temporary exhibitions.
She will delve into Hjula Væveri's rich archive. There is documentation of the industrial operation at Hjulafossen in Sagene throughout the 1800s, complaints from Swedish merchants about the quality of the goods Hjula sold, and letters about the working conditions at the factory. Together, these stories tell how the industry changed society.
