This course is designed for students who are going to take math 2 who want to get even better control of the central topics that are in the exam.

Topics covered
- Functions of several variables
- Partial differentiation, gradient, critical points and optimization - Taylor's theorem with residual terms
- Partial differential equations
- Equilibrium equations
– examples: the Laplace and Poisson equations - Time-dependent systems
– examples: the heat equation, the advection equation and the wave equation - Fourier series (possibly also Fourier transformations)
The selection of topics has been made to reach as many students as possible, by focusing on material that is common to several courses and fields of study.

The course instructor does not know the content of the specific exam, and the course is arranged by NITO independently of the university. The goal is to provide better understanding, overview and confidence in the run-up to the exam.

Øystein Grøndahl has over 15 years of experience teaching mathematics, physics, programming and other subjects in higher education. He is known for explaining the material in a clear and structured way, focusing on making the essence clear and reducing the room for misunderstandings. The course includes both:
