About the study

How is the study and teaching structured?

The programme is practice-oriented and emphasizes the combination of up-to-date academic literature and relevant experiences from working life. To get the best possible learning outcome, you are encouraged to use your own projects as a consistent case in the programme, so that theory can be linked directly to practice and you can work with real issues from your own workplace. Experience shows that this provides increased learning outcomes and is perceived as particularly useful, relevant and engaging.

The teaching varies between digital learning methods, physical or digital gatherings, student presentations and case discussions. The programme is adapted to full-time participants, with video presentations, podcasts, interactive assignments and some webinars, so that it is possible to carry out at the same time as work and other commitments. At the same time, the programme requires that you set aside time and are prepared for a part-time student life during the study period.

Credits, compulsory activities, assessment and examination

Credits

Project Management 1 gives 10 credits and can be included in an experience-based Master of Management at OsloMet.

Compulsory assignments

In order to take the exam, the student must have the following approved coursework requirements:

  • Coursework 1: Written submission of about 1200 words.
  • Coursework 2: Written submission of about 1200 words.
  • Coursework requirement 3: Written submission of about 1200 words.
  • Coursework requirement 4: The working method in the course requires active participation. The sessions in the course are therefore compulsory. In case of absence, an alternative coursework requirement must be submitted as determined by the course coordinator. If the alternative coursework requirement is not satisfactory, it must be resubmitted within a given deadline, which is set by the course coordinator

The reason for the requirement for attendance is that the students are given the opportunity to acquire competence that is part of the purpose of the course, and which the students cannot acquire by only reading the syllabus and/or taking the exam.

The written work requirements are solved in groups or individually and will be included in the work on the exam. The work requirements must be completed and approved within the set deadline in order for the student to be able to take the exam. If one or more of the written work requirements are not approved, an improved version will be given the opportunity to submit once within the specified deadline.

Assessment

The exam in the course is a term paper. It can be submitted individually, but where participants are associated with the same project, they can write in groups of up to four people.

The assignment includes work on a project that has been prepared through assignments and activities during the course. The semester assignment itself will be a significant further development of the work requirements and involve a theoretical foundation and argumentation related to the phenomena addressed in the assignment. In addition, the assignment will include a reflection on the use of theory and learning process.

The term paper should have a scope of 4200 words if several people write together and 3200 words if the assignment is submitted individually (+/-10% deviation in scope is unproblematic). Font and font size: Arial / Calibri 12pt. Line spacing: 1.5.

A student may, if not passed, submit a revised version of the term paper for grading once.
