About the study

How is the study and teaching structured?

The programme is practice-oriented and emphasizes the combination of up-to-date academic literature and relevant experiences from working life. To get the best possible learning outcome, you are encouraged to work on your own project throughout the programme.

The teaching varies between digital learning methods, physical or digital gatherings, student presentations and case discussions. In addition, digital resources are used that both support the learning and make it flexible so that the study can be combined with work.

Learning objectives

After completing the course, the student has advanced knowledge of project management, with particular emphasis on the project management role, team dynamics and agile execution strategies. The student understands how leadership, motivation and influence affect the project's results, and has insight into innovation processes, project complexity and coordination of parallel projects.

The student can make reasoned choices of methods and approaches that support the project's implementation, start-up of teams and learning processes in collaboration. Furthermore, the student develops the ability to creative problem solving, critical assessment and analysis of innovation projects, and can actively contribute to the design and implementation of projects in practice.

Timing of gatherings and course material

Credits, compulsory activities, assessment and examination

Credits

Project Management 2 gives 10 credits and can be included in an experience-based Master of Management at OsloMet.

Coursework requirements and compulsory assignments

In order to take the exam, the student must have the following approved coursework requirements:

  • Coursework requirement 1: Approved portfolio consisting of 3 written works. There is one individual work and two group-based. Each work must have a scope of about 1200 words.
  • Coursework requirement 2: The working method in the course requires active participation. The sessions in the course are therefore mandatory. In case of absence, an alternative coursework requirement must be submitted as determined by the course coordinator. If the alternative coursework requirement is not satisfactory, it must be resubmitted within a given deadline, which is set by the course coordinator.

The reason for the requirement for attendance is that the students are given the opportunity to acquire competence that is part of the purpose of the course, and which the student cannot acquire by only reading the syllabus and/or taking the exam.

The written coursework requirement must be completed and approved within the set deadline in order for the student to be able to take the exam. If the written coursework is not approved, the student will be given the opportunity to submit an improved version sometime within the specified deadline.

Assessment

The exam in the course is a term paper written in groups of up to five people. If there are special circumstances that warrant it, it may be possible for individual submission after approval by the course coordinator.

The term paper should have a scope of about 4000 words (+/- 10%). There will be a more detailed specification of the term paper related to the academic topics included in the course. The answer should be linked to own experiences.

A student may, if not passed, submit a revised version of the term paper for grading once.
