Through the extensive development of the national road network between Sortland, Kvæfjord, Lødingen, Tjeldsund and Harstad, better mobility, increased traffic safety and stronger regional development will be facilitated.
The project will help to link local communities and labour markets more closely together, while at the same time providing the business community with more efficient transport solutions and better framework conditions for further growth.
Construction work started in the summer of 2023, and several sections will be opened continuously during the construction period. The entire project is scheduled to be completed and opened for traffic in the autumn of 2028.
Why is this important?
For engineers and technologists, this is a project that shows how transport development can create value through increased accessibility, sustainable transport solutions and strengthened competitiveness for the region. It is also an example of how technical expertise contributes to social development in Northern Norway.
