As the only trade union for engineers and technologists, we offer income insurance to our members. This contributes to greater security and predictability on the income side, whether you are on long-term sick leave or unemployed/laid off.

Benefits of NITO Income Insurance:
- When you have been on 100% continuous sick leave for at least 365 days, the insurance will provide a lump sum payment of NOK 45,000.
- In the event of involuntary unemployment/layoff, the insurance will provide compensation of NOK 7500 per month for up to twelve months.
- The compensation is in addition to what is paid by NAV.

What does NITO Income Insurance cover?
Compensation in the event of long-term sick leave:
- When you have been on 100% continuous sick leave for at least 365 days, the insurance will provide a lump sum payment of NOK 45,000.
- The first day of sick leave must come at least 30 days after you purchased NITO Income Insurance.
Compensation in the event of involuntary layoff/unemployment:
- In the event of involuntary unemployment/layoff, the insurance will provide compensation of NOK 7500 per month for up to twelve months.
- Notice of layoff/unemployment must be given at least 180 days after you purchased NITO Income Insurance.
The compensation is in addition to what is paid by NAV.
Who can buy NITO Income Insurance?
- NITO members under the age of 62.
- Permanent residential address in Norway, member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme and entitled to sickness benefit/unemployment benefits from NAV in the event of sick leave or layoff/unemployment.
- Been permanently or temporarily employed as an employee for at least 30 hours per week in Norway, and had been so continuously for the past six months.
- Not have been unemployed/laid off within the last six months.
- Are not aware of impending unemployment/layoffs
- Are healthy to be able to carry out their work.
- The insurance does not apply to self-employed persons or people who have not paid work.
