What happens if you exceed the mileage?
If you exceed the agreed mileage in your car insurance, it can affect both the price and what you get back in the event of damage.
Check the mileage
After a long holiday on the road, it's a good idea to take a quick look at your car's mileage. Many car insurance policies have an agreed annual mileage – and if you drive more than stated, there can be consequences.
However, it also applies the other way around: if you have stated too much mileage, you may be paying more than necessary.
Adjust the mileage

Does the insurance still fit?
It is not only the mileage that should be checked. If there have been changes in how the car is used, you should consider whether the insurance is still suitable:
- Do you have children who have started practicing driving or just received the license?
- Has the car become much older since the last time you changed the mileage?
