Is my child covered by the travel insurance?
How long is your child actually insured through your travel insurance? And what conditions must be met? Here are the most important things you should know about NITO Travel Insurance when you have young people or adult children.
Many parents only discover that the travel insurance does not apply, when something has already happened. The reason is often the same: It is thought that adult children are still covered by the family's travel insurance – without being aware that age, place of residence and life situation can all be decisive for whether the child is insured. It can quickly become expensive to be without – also in everyday life.
Covers children living at home up to the age of 21
If you have chosen NITO Travel Insurance Family, your child will be covered by this until the end of the year they turn 21 – as long as the child is registered at the same registered address as both – or one of the parents. When your child moves away from home or passes the age limit, they must have their own insurance.
Do you have children over the age of 21 living at home? Then you can buy travel insurance for them from Tryg with a 30 percent NITO discount.
Children Who Study —What Now?
NITO Travel Insurance applies to trips of up to 90 days – even when your child is studying, as long as the conditions regarding age and place of residence are met. If the child is to be away for longer than 90 days, extended travel insurance must be taken out. The travel insurance also applies when the child travels alone.
Remember that the travel insurance does not apply at the actual place of study or school.
Covers more than just illness
Many people associate travel insurance primarily with illness, injuries, cancellations and delays. But for students and young adults, it is often at least as important that mobile phones, computers and other luggage are covered. Fortunately, this is covered through NITO Travel Insurance, provided that the conditions for the coverage are met.
Remember to buy travel insurance well in advance
Are you, your family or your child planning a holiday? Remember that the travel insurance must be in order before the holiday for it to be valid. If you have a year-round travel insurance such as NITO Travel Insurance, you do not have to think about this.
