Do I get a tax deduction on my membership fee?
You can get a tax deduction for the membership fee
In order to be entitled to a deduction on the membership fee, you must have salary income. This means that this may also apply to you as a pensioner or student member, if you have an extra job.
NITO reports the trade union dues directly to the tax authorities for you if you are registered with a personal identity number with us.
You can claim a tax deduction for paid trade union dues. For 2024, you can deduct up to NOK 8000 from your taxable income. If you have paid trade union dues for part of the year, the maximum amount is reduced in relation to this.
You don't need to do anything other than check that the numbers are correct in your tax return. NITO reports to the tax authorities on behalf of its members.
