NITO's main purpose is to safeguard the members' interests in terms of pay and working conditions, contribute to strengthening the members' professional affiliation and networks, develop and offer professional and financial membership benefits.

When you join NITO, an agreement is entered into that provides a basis for processing personal data about you. This is the information you provide when signing up or in later contact with us. The personal data is necessary to fulfil the purposes of the membership.
NITO communicates directly with you mainly via electronic channels such as e-mail and text messages, as well as telephone inquiries. In addition, you will be able to receive marketing of member benefits through NITO's partners if you have consented to this.
In order to verify that you are a member and ensure that you receive member discounts/prices from our partners, NITO shares your identification information. This information is only used for membership verification, nothing else. If you do not want us to share this information, please let us know on . In that case, you must document your membership yourself .

Validity of membership
Working
- Membership is valid when registration has been completed and the membership terms and conditions have been accepted. Membership fees must be paid on an ongoing basis. Members who owe dues for more than two quarters may be cancelled.
- The member undertakes to have updated contact information and information about employment by notifying of relevant changes. Inadequate information may lead to a reduction in membership services by not reaching the member in the channels in which the services are delivered.
- The member undertakes to inform NITO of any changes in the employment situation that may entitle the member to a change in the membership fee. Paid membership fees are non-refundable.

Student Membership
- Membership is valid when registration has been completed, the membership terms have been accepted and the membership fee has been paid.
- The member undertakes to have updated contact information and information about studies by notifying of relevant changes. Inadequate information may lead to a reduction in membership services by not reaching the member in the channels in which the services are delivered.
- Students who discontinue engineering studies are obliged to report this.

Payment and tax deductions
Payment
The membership fee is invoiced as follows:
- Quarterly: Invoicing takes place in January, April, July, and October, available for both giro and AvtaleGiro.
- Monthly: Members can also choose monthly payments via AvtaleGiro or automatic deduction from their employer.
- Annual: Pensioners and non-working members have an annual demand drive.
Student members are billed once per academic period to activate their membership.
Payment methods offered:
- Feature: Automatic monthly deduction from salary via employer.
- AvtaleGiro: Created in the online bank by the member after registration, monthly or quarterly payment is offered.
- eFaktura/giro: You will automatically receive eFaktura from NITO if you have given general consent to receive eFaktura from all invoice issuers in your online bank.
If you do not accept eFaktura, you will receive payment by e-mail or letter, and quarterly payment is offered. - Netaxept: Card payment is offered for students and working members. You can pay via Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, JCB and Vipps, monthly and quarterly payment is offered.
- Vipps: One-time payment for student membership
Payment reminder:
You will receive reminders by e-mail, regular mail and finally by phone. NITO does not charge a fee for sending out payment reminders.
If you have an outstanding invoice for the last twelve months, you will be removed as a member.
Deductions on the tax return:
NITO reports to the Norwegian Tax Administration paid membership fees for wage earners, reporting period 01.01.20xx - 31.12.20xx.
Validity and lock-in period
Membership is valid when registration has been completed and the membership terms and conditions have been accepted. The membership then takes effect from the date of registration.
Membership lasts until we receive resignation or member drops out. Members who owe dues for more than two quarters may be cancelled.
Student Membership
Membership is valid when registration has been completed, the membership terms have been accepted and the membership fee has been paid.
Right of withdrawal/termination of membership
The member has a 30-day right of withdrawal. Paid membership fees will be refunded.

- NITO reserves the right to make changes to the above terms and conditions. Significant changes to the terms and conditions will be notified to members via NITO's website nito.no
Termination of membership

The membership will expire the current month after the resignation has been received. Student membership can be terminated immediately.
Failure to pay membership fees to NITO does not count as withdrawal.
What happens to my insurance policies?
- If you have paid for NITO's collective insurance schemes (e.g. NITO Home Contents Insurance or NITO Travel Insurance), these are valid for the period for which the premium has been paid.
Rights associated with NITO Student Insurance cease on the date of withdrawal. Please contact if you have any questions. - Agreements entered into with NITO's partners will be terminated at the next main due date.
If the member has entered into bank and insurance agreements, the established customer relationship may be maintained, but the terms/conditions will be changed to the partner's ordinary terms and conditions with effect from the date of termination.
