Section Manager for the Competence Center at NITO, Bjørn Bellaris, proudly says that NITO now offers its members a first-class course program in project management in collaboration with Project Academy AS.

"This is a course program that will provide many of our members with great benefit because project management skills are among the most sought-after skills in today's working life, and because this course stands out on the market in terms of both professional and digital quality," says Bellaris.

"In addition, many NITO members want to become certified project managers, and then this course program is a perfect choice as the course is based on several international standards, and gives course participants a certification from DNV and PMI at the end of the course," he concludes.

A recognized certification for those who want to take the next step in their career

Otto Husby is the general manager of Project Academy AS and the professional manager of the Project Certificate. He has worked with project management, learning and e-learning for 25 years, and has helped many large organizations with the introduction of good practice in project management.

Project management is a sought-after skill in many industries, and more and more engineers and technologists are being given responsibility for projects, work streams or interdisciplinary teams," says Husby.

With the Project Certificate, you get a documented competence in project management based on internationally recognized standards. The course is flexibly structured as an online study and can be completed alongside work.

"Whether you want to take the step into a project management role, strengthen your CV or get better structure and implementation skills in the projects you are already working on, the Project Certificate gives you solid project management skills," Husby points out.

High international standard

The course program is a practical translation of international standards in project management such as PMBOK and PRINCE2. The course provides you with knowledge and tools from the pre-project, tender and contract phase, start-up, planning, implementation and evaluation of projects.

"The purpose of the Project Certificate is to provide a full-fledged and compact training in project management for everyone who works in or with projects. The program is developed in accordance with international standards, and also certified by DNV according to standard ST-0008 – Learning programmes. This is a guarantee that the program contains all important topics in the field of project management, that the courses are structured with clear learning objectives, that the content is in accordance with agreed good practice, and that the instructors have sufficient expertise.

"The vast majority of companies carry out many projects every year. Everything that has to do with development, change and innovation usually happens through a project. Since project management is often not part of the curriculum at universities and colleges, much of the project management that takes place is self-taught. Many people trust their own common sense, but it often turns out that it is not enough to succeed with more complex projects," says Husby.

He believes that the need for expertise in project management will continue to increase in the years to come. For the individual, such expertise can provide new career opportunities and a better basis for success in project work.
