Crash courses provide both overview and confidence
The transition from MATH101 to MATH121 meant that the students had little history to rely on. A new lecturer and a new schedule also meant new priorities on the exam.
For Phillip, it was therefore particularly interesting to gain insight into what was emphasized in the new exam.
Structured repetition and better comprehension
Phillip found that the crash course provided both the necessary repetition, confirmation of what he already knew, and a better understanding of what he was unsure of.
He was able to brush up on material he had been through before, while some of the more demanding concepts finally fell into place.
For Phillip, the course was both a professional refresher and an opportunity to close gaps in understanding before the exam.
"I was given a review of things I already knew, and that repetition made me remember it much better. At the same time, I got confirmation that what I thought was right, was actually right, and that strengthens my self-confidence, Phillip points out.

Crash course: Good investment both professionally and mentally
Although the exam period can feel hectic, Philip believes that the time spent on crash courses is well invested. Not only academically, but also mentally.
Phillip is familiar with the feeling that his time as a student is stressful, and that his calendar quickly becomes full. That is precisely why he believes it is important to dare to lift his eyes a little from his desk.
Even though it may feel like you don't have time to spare, he sees great value in attending crash courses, either with someone you know or alone, to get a more structured review of the curriculum than what you get on your own.
For Phillip, it's about using his time wisely, not just more.

Chose industrial economics to combine science and holistic understanding
Phillip is in the first class of industrial economics at NMBU. Later in the race, he will choose a specialization, and the plan is to go for data science. He already feels that he has found a study programme that suits him well.
He chose industrial economics precisely because it combines natural sciences with a more general perspective.
"I think science is fun, but I also think it's very important to have a more general view of what you're working with, so you can't just program," he says.
