NITO gives me security
- It is important to be unionized no matter how big or small your workplace is. So says Lene Korneliussen, project manager at Baggerød AS in Horten.
- From experience, both large, well-known companies as well as smaller companies have some cases that are a little on the edge of laws and regulations. It is not necessarily deliberate, but rather ignorance. As a NITO member, I have a large network of people with different experiences and backgrounds who give me advice," says Korneliussen.
She has an education in mechanical design and has extensive experience from working life. After 14 years as a trade unionist, Korneliussen is well aware of the security that comes with having NITO's back.
Someone to lean on
- At NITO, we share experiences about what they have achieved and what they are struggling with. Some have extensive experience from working life, while others are completely new.
- I can ask over 100,000 engineers and technologists if there is anything I wonder about. That opportunity allows me to lower my shoulders, I know that I have good supporters around me.
Korneliussen is a business group leader at Baggerød AS, where she contributes to the production of doors for the maritime industry. She is committed to ensuring that things are done in the right way for the employees in the company.
- It is important to have good cooperation between union representatives and management to pull the company in the right direction and promote well-being in the workplace. With a union representative, you can raise issues if something is amiss. You have someone who makes sure that processes are carried out in the right way, for example in the event of restructuring or downsizing.

Guide to a new and better job
- Previously, I was employed in a job I was not completely satisfied with. I wanted to move on, but I didn't know for what. Then I received career guidance from NITO one-on-one. That helped a lot. The career counsellor stacked my thoughts in a good way and pushed me in the right direction. It was useful and got me into a job I enjoy better.
NITO gave her a course in writing a CV and she was able to submit a new employment contract for review by one of NITO's lawyers.
