Travel on field assignments: Become a mentor in Master with Meaning

Let your engineering skills add more value! NITO members can become a mentor in Master with Meaning and help students with master's theses that create real change.

Professional development with meaning

MmM connects the students' competence with specific needs in the world. The issues are developed together with local partners, organizations or companies. This makes the projects relevant, feasible and meaningful.

- For NITO members, the mentor role is a rare opportunity to share experience with the next generation of engineers and technologists, says Elise Skattum, project manager at EWB-DK.

- You will gain a completely unique experience, preferably insight into new building practices, other ways of working and solutions that have been developed for local conditions. Then it's a matter of solving a local challenge, creating a difference," she says.

An experience that leaves a mark

EWB-DK mentor Joakim Gitlestad describes the role as both demanding and very rewarding. In the spring of 2025, he was a mentor for two master's students in a project on the design of a community center in Gweu, Zimbabwe. The experience provided both professional development, cultural understanding and networks that last.

Master's with Meaning shows solidarity in practice. NITO members get to use their expertise where they are needed, while at the same time highlighting students in important projects. For many, this will be an experience they will never forget.
