- Good real wage growth for NITO members also in 2026

"Several factors point to good real wage growth for NITO's members in 2026 as well, even with uncertainty about the development of the Norwegian and international economy and turbulent times internationally," says NITO's president, Kjetil Lein.

"We have seen over time that NITO union representatives negotiate good wage settlements, both in the private and public sectors. We see no signs that this will not continue, as our engineers and technologists have key expertise for value creation and efficient service provision throughout society and in all parts of the country," says NITO President Kjetil Lein.

"With this as a backdrop, my message is that the goal is real wage growth for NITO's members in 2026, and that it should still be an advantage to be a NITO member.

Still great need for engineers

NITO's recent needs survey shows that half of Norwegian companies find it difficult to recruit the necessary engineering expertise. At the same time, engineers and technologists are at the forefront when it comes to adopting and creating value with new technology, for example through artificial intelligence.

NITO's more than 117,000 members contribute to the necessary speed in the restructuring of Norway, the President points out. Both to ensure access to energy, for modernization of transport and for access to clean water, to name a few.

- Our members contribute with critical expertise in industry, in finance, in hospitals, in municipalities, in public administration and in education.

"With this as a backdrop, my message is that the goal is real wage growth for NITO's members in 2026, and that it should still be an advantage to be a NITO member.

NITO, which recently celebrated its 90th anniversary as the choice of engineers and technologists, will hold its annual collective bargaining conference in Lillestrøm on 10-11 March with over 350 key union representatives.
