Break in the main settlement in the City of Oslo
Akademikerne and the City of Oslo did not reach their goal in this year's wage settlement. "It has been demanding negotiations with many elements, and the parties are still some distance apart," says negotiation leader Julius Okkenhaug.
Akademikerne, with whom NITO is negotiating, broke off wage negotiations with the City of Oslo today. So did the LO, Unio and YS. The settlement will now go to mediation with a deadline of 28 May at midnight.
"At the same time, I would like to say that we feel that there has been a good dialogue between the parties along the way," says Okkenhaug.
This year's settlement is a main settlement, where both wages and the collective agreement are negotiated. Akademikerne has demanded real wage growth and local, collective bargaining for their own members.
"The City of Oslo is dependent on highly educated employees to deliver good services. Then the wage system must also support this," says Okkenhaug.
The current system is mainly centralised, which makes it difficult to adapt salaries to the needs of the enterprises. Akademikerne believes that local, collective negotiations are necessary to ensure that education, competence, responsibility and efforts pay off.
"We want to find solutions together with the other parties in the settlement. Therefore, we are now going to mediation with the goal of reaching an agreement," says Okkenhaug.
