What can you earn in the summer job 2027?

Are you planning to have a summer job next year? Here is an insight into the salary level you can expect.

Half of NITO's student members spend their summer holidays gaining experience from working life and earning money.

- If you are unsure of what the normal salary is in your summer job, it is good to know that NITO has made calculations, says Jarand Byrkjeland, head of NITO Students.

The figures are based on NITO's student survey and multiplied by forecasts for wage growth.

The overview is divided into two categories: Relevant summer jobs for the field of study you are studying, and summer jobs that are not relevant to the subjects you are studying.

Hourly wage: Relevant summer job

Average NOK 289

Hourly wage: Not relevant summer job

Average NOK 243

The salary level in a summer job can vary, and Byrkjeland has a recommendation for those who receive a salary offer that is lower than this.

- Then you can try to negotiate the salary, but don't give an ultimatum if you don't think so. Instead, ask if the employer has the opportunity to go a little further.

Check the employment contract
