NITO BFI's Advisory Committee for Quality Management

NITO BFI's Advisory Committee for Quality Management (NITO BFI Quality Management) arranges network meetings for quality work in medical laboratories and workshops on current topics in quality work. 

About the NITO BFI Quality Management Committee

The committee works on relevant issues in quality work, operates the professional network NITO BFI quality management, arranges professional courses and takes a stand in cases on behalf of the members in cases within the committee's field of responsibility.

Mandate for NITO BFI quality management

The committee's tasks are as follows:

  • Be an advisor to NITO BFI's professional board and NITO BFI's members in matters concerning quality development and accreditation of medical laboratories.
  • Contribute to the administration of specialist approval for biomedical laboratory scientists.
  • Maintain contact with Norwegian Accreditation (NA), among other things to be familiar with NA's views regarding accreditation of medical laboratories in Norway and to stimulate qualified biomedical laboratory technicians to contribute their professional expertise to NA's work.
  • Maintain contact with and collaborate with other relevant professional bodies, including educational institutions.
  • Assess the consequences for the profession when new standards are planned and introduced.
  • Seek to influence the development and implementation of standards that have an impact on the professional practice of biomedical laboratory scientists.
  • Be a reference group for NITO BFI's representatives in national and international forums regarding quality development.
  • Continue and further develop the work on the contact network.
  • Arrange and further develop network meetings and professional courses in quality work and accreditation.

In addition, there are various adhoc tasks and other matters relating to the committee's subject areas. The mandate was adopted by NITO BFI's academic board on 20-21 March 2017. The mandate is reviewed by the Committee annually.
