How to apply for funding for research and development projects for biomedical laboratory technicians

NITO BFI and the study fund want to stimulate more research among biomedical laboratory scientists. Apply for funding for research and development projects.

In order to be granted money from the fund, the applicant must be a member both at the time of application and at the time of payment. The applicant must also have been a continuously active working member of NITO BFI for the past three years, and it is also assumed that the applicant has paid the membership fee. The applicant must have a significant role in the project and be the project manager.

Deadlines and processing of applications

Applications for funding for research and development projects can be submitted on 1 May and 1 November

Applications are assessed by NITO BFI research and allocation is decided by the study fund's board. Funds will be distributed among accepted applications, and the size of the allocation may therefore vary.

Applications for funding for research and development projects will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The project has a clear objective
  • The project can contribute to professional development and/or raise the level of biomedical laboratory science
  • The project has an appropriate study design
  • The project is independent
  • The project has a detailed and realistic cost budget
  • The project is feasible in terms of time, resources and technical solutions
  • The project description is comprehensive and thorough
