The Department of Biomedical Laboratory Technicians (NITO BFI) was established as a result of the merger between NITO and the Norwegian Association of Biomedical Laboratory Technicians (NOBI) in 1998. The department is dedicated to strengthening the professional identity of biomedical laboratory technicians and promoting the development of the biomedical laboratory science profession both nationally and internationally.

2nd time consultation - guidelines for NITO BFI
A revised proposal for guidelines for NITO Institute of Biomedical Laboratory Technicians was made known to the members on 22.01.25. Consultative input from the members was reviewed at the professional board's meeting on 30.04.25, and based on the input, a revised proposal for guidelines has now been made.
Consultation input will be sent to by 24.11.25.
