The Executive Board of NITO has the pleasure of inviting you to the Professional Policy Gathering 2025.
The theme of this year's gathering is twofold: Preparedness and Competence. We get exciting lectures and are challenged in collaborations that will provide useful input for the further development of NITO.
The program will be published here when it is ready.
The event begins with dinner at 19:00 on 21 October 2025 and lasts until 15:00 on 23 October.
Keynote speaker:
Kai Eide takes you on a geopolitical journey in a turbulent world. Through wars and rivalries between great powers, global warming and green transition, revolutionary technology and increasing protectionism. Never has humanity been confronted with such great challenges. Can politicians regain the ability to govern and master the tasks? And how is Norway affected by the turbulence around the world? Eide is one of Norway's most high-profile and experienced diplomats. His experience extends from early negotiations between East and West in the 1970s, via the Balkan wars and the Middle East to the war in Libya. Eide has been Norway's ambassador to NATO, the OSCE and Sweden, as well as state secretary at the Prime Minister's Office. He has led the UN's work in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosov.
Entertainment during dinner
During dinner, we get to know Elin Lien. From her own work experience in civil protection and emergency preparedness, various human encounters have provided a good insight into both diversity, prejudices, stereotypes and how others experience exclusion. She has a master's degree in management and several years of experience as a manager. Both privately and in a work context, she has seen how norms, expectations and unconscious prejudices affect both individuals' self-esteem and the culture of organisations. In particular, a preventive mindset has influenced her in how we can meet different people and situations in a good way and build good teams for the best possible results.
About trade union policy gathering
The professional policy gathering is an arena where you as NITO's resource persons in the field of science and politics meet each other and discuss current topics. You will learn about how to do advocacy work, how to be good supporters for each other and NITO and hopefully be inspired by learning about how the other resource persons in NITO work. We will also have speakers who will contribute to both debate and inspiration.
This gathering is also a good opportunity to exchange experiences, input and assessments with us on the Executive Board of NITO.
Please note that unfortunately we cannot invite all members of the networks and advisory committees, so two from each body will be invited. Contact us at the secretariat for more information about this if you are unsure.
Travel and accommodation
Travel and accommodation will be covered by NITO.
We encourage everyone who can to travel as much as possible by public transport. If possible, carpool if possible if you have to use a car or taxi.
