Who are you submitting the case for?
Questions about dismissal

This is a meeting where the employer will discuss a possible dismissal with you before making a final decision, cf. Section 15-1 of the Working Environment Act.

Read our advice on how to prepare for the discussion meeting.

What is the reason why you have been called to a discussion meeting?
Do you have a union representative in the workplace?

Contact your union representative, who is your primary support in this situation. The union representative knows the workplace and the local conditions well, and can participate in the discussion meeting with you.

If the situation changes, or you need assistance later in the process, you can submit a case.

It is useful for us to look at information you have that is relevant to the case. Please upload the following that is relevant to your situation:

  • Notice of discussion meeting
  • Your employment contract
  • In the event of downsizing or reorganization: Management's description of the background for the downsizing and any other information regarding the downsizing
  • In the event of personal dismissal: Minutes from any follow-up meetings or other written documentation
  • Other documents you believe may shed light on your case

NITO can advise you and consider whether we should participate in the discussion meeting with you.

In order for NITO to be able to assess whether we can assist in the meeting, we need a minimum of five working days' notice. If the deadline in the notice is short, we recommend that you contact your employer and ask for a postponement of the meeting time. Here you will find a finished draft email you can send to the employer:

Hi, I refer to the notice of the discussion meeting. I would like to present a representative from NITO at the meeting, in line with my rights under Section 15-1 of the Working Environment Act.

NITO needs a minimum of five working days' notice to be able to participate. I therefore ask that the meeting be postponed, and hope we can agree on a new meeting time that takes this into account.

Sincerely, [Name]
