The cheese slicer 100 years – and other Norwegian inventions

Bjørklund started production in his own company two years after he took out a patent. Production is still underway, and the cheese slicer is perhaps the most famous Norwegian invention – at least in Norway.

We think it is appropriate to talk about the cheese slicer and cutting cheese into thin slices, about patents and innovation and about other Norwegian inventions - even though they may not be as well-known as the cheese slicer. Maybe we dare to make a selection of the top 10 Norwegian inventions? It has been tried before, and always triggers fun discussions about technology and innovation.

Dag Andreassen is a technology and industrial historian and conservator at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology. Among other things, he has worked on stories about innovation and inventions.

There is light refreshments in the museum café from 4 pm for those who are pre-registered. To avoid food waste, it is good if you write in the comment field whether you want to be served or if you come directly to the lecture.
