Rooted in the values of the Nordic model – trust, equality, and strong social dialogue – the summit strengthens our collective voice, fosters knowledge-sharing, and builds strategies to ensure that the introduction and governance of artificial intelligence in the workplace are fair, inclusive, and democratic.
Digitalisation is putting the Nordic model to the test. Yet the very tools we need to succeed – trust, collaboration, and social dialogue – are already at the heart of our way of working.
The Nordic model has guided us through profound societal transformations before. As we navigate the age of artificial intelligence, it remains our greatest strength. Tripartite cooperation – between governments, employers, and trade unions – is the cornerstone of labor market governance in the Nordic countries. Collective bargaining and close collaboration are essential to managing the sweeping changes AI brings to the workplace. Meaningful involvement and cooperation foster stronger foundations, a sense of ownership, and legitimacy – driving better outcomes in times of change.
However, employee participation and social dialogue are often underdeveloped in digitalisation efforts. At the same time, the EU’s new digital regulations give limited recognition to the role of social partnership. This must change. The time to act is now.
Labour unions have a critical role to play in ensuring that digitalisation protects workers’ rights and strengthens the Nordic model. We, the unions, must take the lead – shaping a future of work that meets society’s challenges and builds a skills policy fit for a rapidly evolving world of work.
Through keynote presentations, roundtable discussions, and cross-border collaboration, the summit offers a space for fresh insights, bold ideas, and joint strategies. Together, we will explore how to uphold the Nordic model in the digital age and secure real influence over how AI is introduced, governed, and negotiated at work.
The event is a collaboration between Finansforbundet, NITO and Delta.
